Timing was everything
Trump’s visit to the UK in 2019 erupted on Facebook, bringing debate and controversy to millions of people’s feeds. We knew we had to act fast! Using the momentum around Donald Trump’s hot-off-the-press visit to the UK, some well-timed Sponsored Facebook ads and direct quotes from Trump himself, drawing attention to the powerful, yet simple, fact. Donald Trump condones torture.
A bold approach for bold results
Our bold approach led to high engagement rates, creating lots of debate and noise on Facebook. Attracting likeminded supporters was our first step, converting them to lifelong supporters was our next challenge. So once we’d attracted their attention, we asked viewers to take a very simple action: sign Freedom from Torture’s petition, calling for the UK to be a place of safety for torture survivors.
Continuing their supporter journey
Once we gained momentum, the campaign took off. And off. We achieved some impressive results with low CPL’s on Facebook of £2.10, almost half the industry average and leading to 1,122 additional signatures on the #asafeplace petition. Incredible. Through further communication, these newfound supporters were converted into valuable, lifelong partners of Freedom from Torture.
