Responding rapidly at times of emergency
Emergencies can strike at any time. With no warning, a medical crisis, a natural disaster or a man-made catastrophe can tear up all of our plans. The one thing all emergencies share is that they require an urgent response.
This is where On Agency can help. Over many years, we’ve worked with charities to rapidly develop and deliver fundraising assets at times of emergency. To help raise funds when they’re needed the most.
We have optimised the way we work with print and media suppliers to respond as quickly as possible, using templates or brand new campaigns to deliver your message to the world rapidly and efficiently. Our emergency Direct Mail lead times are as low as 5-7 working days from briefing to mail out and we can get emergency national press ads into newspapers as quickly as the very next working day after you contact us – and at very low cost negotiated rates.
This has helped us achieve some excellent results for our charity partners. Our work with ShelterBox has provided two recent examples:
Emergency Press: Hurricanes Irma and Maria (2017)
In 2017, we worked with ShelterBox to support families robbed of their homes, delivering emergency fundraising assets including Press Ads, Direct Mail and online ads.
Updating templated Artwork gave us the opportunity to raise urgent funds and gain new supporters in response to the devastation of 2017’s hurricane Irma. With a second natural disaster hitting the same region just two weeks later, we quickly tailored the artwork and messaging to attract support for families left devastated by hurricane Maria.
Result: With a total of 14 Press Adverts released over a number of days in a variety of broadsheets, the results were staggering. The combined fundraising total for hurricanes Irma and Maria Press Adverts totalled more than £290,000 from more than 2,100 new supporters.
Emergency Direct Mail: Indonesian Tsunami (2018)
September 2018 saw a 7.5 magnitude earthquake trigger a deadly six metre tsunami on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. We worked with ShelterBox to dispatch an emergency Direct Mail Pack to their warm supporters, calling for donations for emergency shelter, warmth and safety for families left with nothing.
With our campaign management for emergency scenarios already in place, our forward planning meant we were able to act fast. Our Creative Team speedily updated the existing templated design for an emergency Direct Mail, with a stripped-back design and clear messaging that got straight to the point.
Our Data Team pulled together a segmentation and targeting plan and mailing file ready to send to print within 2 working days. Our Print Manager worked closely with our print supplier – meaning that the pack mailed out within 7 working days of sending the artwork and data to print.
On Agency’s responsiveness saw great results. The emergency Direct Mail received a total income of £135,000, with an average gift of £55 and a response rate of 12.1%.
